Køvvånng is an individual and collective conceptual artist(s) based worldwide but currently soul-situated at the mast-point of Ales Stenar on the Kåseberga ridge in Scania.
The obfuscation of Køvvånng’s critically acclaimed identity for these Ciphers is intentional and necessary.
Cipher Art is a process employed by Køvvånng wherein the artists’ identity and reference to their previous body of work is deeply obfuscated, and the process of creating the static and performative elements of the installation are executed by surrogates decoding and interpreting prompts communicated remotely by the artist.
For U.S. based installations Køvvånng’s dictates are executed by the performance company Amnesia Wars, a team of professional musicians, dancers, and actors (et.al.) who have been producing Avant Prov style installations to execute Køvvånng’s dictates.
By utilizing an entire troupe of artists as their primary medium, Køvvånng engages us beyond a mere visual or aural experience into a visceral involvement of the exhibition. Rooted in abstract expressionism, gesamtkunstwerk, modern dance, and improvisational theater, Avant Prov presents a series of ephemeral studies in the tensions between the archetypal and the personal.
Furthering Køvvånng’s efforts to reduce certainty to absurdity, Amnesia Wars presents a reality wherein the bizarre is commonplace and synesthesia becomes the norm, challenging the dividing lines between our senses and our assumptions.
Amnesia Wars has been chosen for these collaborations based on their history of creative interpretations of existing work and genres, their ability to improvisationally compose immediate, unique performances, and their reputation for incredible spatial/body awareness, as they will be performing among Køvvånng’s delicate and valuable kinesthetic sculptures.
Køvvånng has been appointed the ARTISTIC CHAIR of the Central Committee of the Slightly Silly Party for Positive Patriotism, as executed by Amnesia Wars.
